Chandigarh Water Supply Regulated From Today as 48-Hour Kajauli Pipeline Shutdown Begins
CHANDIGARH: Water supply across Chandigarh is being regulated from September 30 to October 1 because of a 48-hour shutdown required for replacement of a major pipeline at Jhungian and Jandpur villages.
The shutdown is affecting the pumping of raw water from Phase III of the Kajauli waterworks to the Water Works in Sector 39, according to the Municipal Corporation’s schedule.
The regulated supply schedule for both days is:
Morning: 3:30 AM to 9:00 AM — Full pressure
Evening: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM — Low pressure
The work involves replacement of the existing 1,200-mm pipeline at the Jhungian and Jandpur stretches.
Residents have been advised to store adequate water in advance and plan their household requirements around the regulated supply timings.
The Municipal Corporation has asked residents to cooperate while the replacement work is carried out.
The two-day shutdown is expected to affect normal water-supply operations across the city during the specified period.
Residents who require additional water for essential needs are advised to plan ahead rather than wait for the evening low-pressure supply window.
